Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is a Perfect Way to Describe the New York Mets

Just when you think you've heard it all---

On Sunday it was revealed New York Mets star pitcher Noah Syndergaard was being put on the 10-day disabled list with a viral illness commonly found in children under the age of 5. "Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease"....

Yes, really, it's a thing---and the pitcher named "Thor" by Mets faithful has it...

This is quite possibly the most New York Mets thing that could ever happen. Which isn't said without qualification because the Mets are arguably the most disfunctional--bizzaro team in Major League Baseball.

And don't get me wrong--I don't feel sorry for them--not a fan, it's quite funny to see things implode from the inside out.

The news on Syndergaard comes only a day after "Team Dysfunction" confused most of the Baseball world when mega-high paid outfielder Yoenis Cespedes came off the disabled list Friday, proceeded to go 2 for 4 with a home run in Friday nights game against the Yankees, then told the assembled reporters after the game, he'd likely need surgery on not one but both of his heels and could be out for the next 8-10 months.

But it gets better.....

The comments completely caught Mets Manager Mickey Callaway off guard and when asked about it, Callaway said he had no idea what Cespedes was talking about.

Oops....

The outfielder had gone on the DL for what was originally termed issues with his "Hip Flexor" and "Quads"....no mention of heel problems.

The Mets, two days after the disclosure finally admitted the heel spurs have been an issue for sometime with their uber-high paid outfielder ($29,000,000 in 2018) but he's "Played through them".

Mets "Assistant GM" John Ricco confessed the comments were the first time Surgery had been discussed.....

This is also a team without an "Official General Manager" after GM Sandy Alderson stepped away to deal with Medical Issues leaving the M-E-T-S to operate with nobody really in charge.

Three people including Ricco and former GM Omar Miniya have been a tag team with nobody clearly leading.

I should mention the team, which started 2018 with a 11-1 record, now sits in the National League East basement with a 40-56 record (29-55 since the start).

Oh, and I almost forgot: This past week, the M-E-T-S traded star closer Jeurys Familia to the Oakland A's for 2 semi-prospects and $1 million of International Signing Bonus money....

So yeah, I just felt the need to go through this list on a Monday morning in large part because I needed a laugh and wanted to share it.

It could actually get worse as there is continued speculation the team is contemplating more trades and Syndergaard along with Jacob DeGrom could be made available.

Which would be a total and complete implosion the likes we haven't seen...well....since the Baltimore Orioles or the Kansas City Royals who really ARE the worst teams in baseball.....
