Georgia Won The Craziest Football Game I Ever Saw

Monday afternoon's Georgia vs. Oklahoma College Football Semi-Final was everything right about College Football and more.

The game--won by the Bulldogs 52-48 in two overtimes was arguably the most intense and crazy game I've ever seen and proof positive College Football is far more fun to watch than the NFL.

However--if you had seen the first 23 minutes of game action and nothing more--you were likely shocked at the outcome.

Oklahoma came out guns blazing and looked virtually unstoppable on offense. The Sooners high speed, fast paced offense was clicking on all cylinders and with just 6 seconds to go in the 1st half, star QB Baker Mayfield CAUGHT a 2-yard TD pass on a perfectly executed reverse run/pass option play giving Oklahoma a 31-14 lead.

But following the extra point--the Sooners did something hard to explain. VERY hard to explain.

Instead of kicking to the end zone--they squibbed the ball. Pooch kicked if you will. Georgia recovered and no time went off the clock. They had the ball near midfield and the though was they'd run a "Hail Mary".

They didn't.

QB Jake Fromm, the true freshman calmly stepped back and rifled a pass to an open Javon Wims moving the ball to the 38 and the clock at :01.

Instead of trying to run the "Hail Mary", Dawgs kicker Rodrigo Blankenship calmly stepped up and drilled a career best 55-yard field goal making it 31-17.

It got crazier--much crazier....

Georgia Coach Kirby Smart and Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker must have figured something out because the Bulldogs defense looked nothing like the team on the field in the 1st half who couldn't figure out how to stop Oklahoma.

The Sooners got the ball to start the 2nd half and went 3 plays and out. They punted. Mecole Hardeman returned the punt some 20-yards to midfield and suddenly the Dogs had a chance.

Their first play of the 2nd half--a handoff to Nick Chubb who promptly shook off multiple tacklers and rumbled 50 yards to the house---suddenly the score was 31-24.

The two teams went back and forth with little success for most of the period until Georgia RB Sony Michel--who ran for 185 yards and 3 TD's, busted a 38-yard touchdown and we had a tie game.

The 4th quarter was two powerhouse teams trading roundhouse punches. The clock struck 0:00 and we had a 45 all tie. Free football in Pasadena....

Your game changer came after both teams kicked field goals in the 1st overtime leaving us with a 48 all tie.

The Sooners would get the ball back and for reasons we don't understand got conservative. Mayfield who was every bit the Heisman Trophy winner handed off multiple times only to meet Georgia monster LB Roquan Smith who matched him and anyone trying to block him....

Let's face it...

Smith is a bad man...

But how did this end if you were listening locally...??? Here's the Scott Howard call, thanks to our friends at IMG Audio...

So, now we get a week of teacher/pupil stories... the originality of story-telling will be an interesting watch this week since we all know where the stories are...

Just, who gets chased and where do they go...???

Enjoy, y'all...
