What Did The Commissioner Know About The Marlins And When...???

It's another round of the Marlins tearing things down all over again with new owners and bosses- including Derek Jeter- and folks in south Florida aren't happy about it.

Just look at how Dan and Stugotz dress down the Commissioner on their Wednesday show...

Now, the parsing of words...

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald got this kind of confirmation in his article...

"A source directly involved in the Marlins sales process, after hearing the Le Batard interview, said, via text: “Commissioner said was not aware of [Jeter] plan to slash payroll. Absolutely not true. They request and receive the operating plan from all bidders."

So, the question is: Did Manfred know what the Marlins were planning...? He says not in a "player-specific" manner. But, really, if you think about it, how could he not...

Jeter, who has seemingly burned up all his emotional capital as a baseball player in one very short off-season in a front office, is getting it from all angles... including a recent town hall

It's clear the Marlins philosophy is to tank all over again. The minor league system is not as stacked as the examples given like Kansas City or Houston. And to call the Miami market a "small-town" market seems to be a slap in the face to the top-ten market itself...

But for the front office, they don't seem to care and are already spinning their work. They want to put a winning product on the field, but the HQ would love to know how they do it if they want to trade away all the big guns...
