Eminem Shows Up to Open New Detroit Arena, Fans Not So Much
Lots of people questioned why the City of Detroit was willing to spend $320-plus million of their own dollars to build a new $800 million dollar plus arena for the Red Wings and Pistons when the city has tons of other financial burdens.
And the reason was to try bringing people back downtown--an honorable notion but one that has yet to bear fruit.
It was never more evident than Wednesday night when the Pistons opened their season vs. The Charlotte Hornets at the Little Caesar's Center. (Yes, the Illitch's apparently couldn't afford to pay for the building their own selves)
Amidst the fanfare of a season opener came a---um, less than optimal turnout by the home team fanbase....
