DEVELOPING: Pitino Voted Out At Louisville

And, now, we're in this stage of it all at Louisville...

The University of Louisville Athletic Association convened Monday and voted to fire Rick Pitino with cause- something that the coach he vehemently denies...

Rick Pitino’s attorney, Steve Pence, spoke to reporters outside of the meeting- which included presenting a 50-plus page document detailing the reasons why Pitino should stay:

“The right thing to do is to bring the coach back. He’s not terminated right now and he should not be terminated, he should be brought back, if the university wants to negotiate for him to leave at a later time we’ll talk about that, but this is not the right way to do this,” Pence said. “The coach did not engage in any of this activity, he didn’t know about the activity, I think we made a very compelling case to the board. I think they listened attentively and we’ll just have to wait and see what they say.”

Pitino had been suspended since September 27th pending an administrative review of an alleged role in an FBI investigation on "pay to play" schemes.

The presentation released by Pence also included a polygraph result where Pitino "passed" and information that included a meeting with the FBI.

According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, here's a part of the exchange Pitino had with the questioner:

Did you participate in paying (Louisville freshman Brian Bowen's) family?

Before Sept. 26, did you know Bowen's family had been paid?

Pitino answered no to both questions. The polygraph examiner, Carl Christiansen, said that in his opinion Pitino's recorded responses were not deceptive.

More when we know more as Pence and the rest of the Pitino legal team are challenging the "for cause" notion from the highest rooftop....
