U.S Mens Soccer Wins Gold Cup on Late Game Winning Goal
Has the USMNT found its lost "Mojo"? After Wednesday nights thrilling 2-1 Gold Cup Championship win over Jamaica, the question is a pretty legitimate one.
The game was won in the 88th minute when Jordan Morris found himself with the ball thanks to a drop pass from "Super-Sub" Clint Dempsey. Morris rifled a kick right by a stunned Jamaican goalie.
Winning the Cup itself was not a total surprise for Team America, it's their 6th trophy. What is a surprise is how well they've played since parting ways with now former Manager Jurgen Klinsmann. Since Bruce Arena stepped in to take over, the U.S Mens National Team has won 13 straight games.
There are still roster tweaks ahead as the team continues the push towards World Cup qualifying in September. Potential impact players like Christian Pusilic didn't play and rising Major League Soccer star Dom Dwyer wasn't available. They both provide the team with even more depth.
Keep an eye on this team---the seem to have bottomed out and appear back on the upswing. We should get a better feel for their progress soon. Very, very soon.
