Joey Votto put on a Donkey Suit to Support Teammate Zack Cozart

We're guessing the Donkey thing is some sort of internal gag in support of Cincinnati Reds Shortstop Zach Cozart.

It's the only way to explain what happened Wednesday afternoon at Riverfront Stadium where the Reds took on the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Reds...or the folks in Cincinnati are making what we assume is a push to get Cozart into the Major League Baseball All-Star team. And it appears his teammates are all in for the push too as there is some sort of inside joke among them having to do with a Donkey.

Watch as what appears to be someone dressed as a Donkey approaches Cozart during an interview (note the Donkey T-Shirt). The Donkey is holding a sign that says "Vote Cozart".....

Shortly afterward, the Donkey takes off his hood and reveals himself as Reds star First Baseman Joey Votto....

And the hilarity ensued....

The 31-year old Cozart--a likely trade chip for the rebuilding Reds is having his best season as a pro thus far. He's hitting .320 with 9 HR's and 33 RBI's. But he faces stiff competition at SS with guys like Corey Seager of the Dodgers and Trea Turner of Washington lighting things up this season.

Also working against him....Cozart has been hurt and to this point not activated after being placed on the 10-day disabled list last week after injuring a quadricep muscle....

He's expected to be activated as soon as Thursday's game against the Brewers.
