DEVELOPING: Blimp Crash At US Open

((HT: The Sun Newspaper))

A blimp covering the US Open at Erin Hills in Wisconsin caught fire and fell to Earth- with those inside parachuting out to make it alive.

The Sun is reporting, through an eyewitness account on social media, that one operator is injured with burns. Here's the last little bit from Sam Schmidt's Twitter account:

And here's where the Washington County (WI) EMS can be found as the crew and everyone involved is trying to get to the bottom of it all...

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel caught up with some eyewitnesses as well:

"It started deflating, and then it started going down," said Bryan Rosine.

"They were trying to give it some throttle and it didn't go up," he said. "Then there was a bunch of kabooms and smoke clouds."

Another witness, Tim Guetzke, said "the side started deflating. One side was going in. As it headed toward the ground, it caught fire."

Flight For Life and other available EMS personnel were called to a farm close to the Erin Hills property.

BTN's Mike Hall is there as well:
