Seattle NHL Bid Gets Interesting Backing

((HT: KING5 TV Seattle))

Chris Daniels has been at the forefront of the reporting of all the Seattle attempts to get a new arena, get a new NBA team, get a new NHL team...

You see where this is headed...

Let's just hope the new franchise, wherever it is whenever it is, won't be named the Seattle Pirates (or something like that...)

Because this guy is now apparently tied to the renovation project of Key Arena- to the tune of over $500-million in a gut-and-renovate...

Bruckheimer and Boston Celtics minority owner David Bonderman are set to join Tim Leiweke's Oak View Group for the renovation of the arena. According to Daniels, Bruckheimer and Bonderman are looking to bring an NHL franchise to the city with the Key renovation completed.

If Oak View gets approved, the next step is looking at the City Council for their okey-dokey, but not without some harumphing from the AEG group that wanted to build an arena and Chris Hansen, who wanted to build a new arena from scratch in the SoDo (South Downtown) area.

Hansen still has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to build and it doesn't expire until December.

Mayor Ed Murray sat down with Brock and Salk on ESPN710 in Seattle to discuss the announcement and the rationale behind the check mark of the bid.

By the way...
