Huddersfield Town Wins Richest Soccer Match In England

((HT: SkySports/Football Spotlight))

It's called that way for a reason...

In the Championship League play-off final, Huddersfield Town (who have had problems finding their offense of late) and Reading (who were looking to get back in to the top flight) were squaring off in front of 77,000 for the third and final berth into the Premier League for the 2017-18 season.

The spoils... somewhere in the neighborhood of $220-million for the coffers...

To be fair, it wasn't one of the most memorable match-ups you'll have in the play-off history. And, really, the excitement didn't come until the penalty kicks session...

Now, after a generation, Huddersfield (with an American manager in David Wagner) are back in the top-flight. But, be warned, they may not have enough to stay up after one season.
