Jake Marisnick and the Walk-Off Outfield Assist....
The two teams in Major League Baseball off to the best start squared off Thursday night in New York and the game between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees certainly lived up to the hype.
The Yankees started the night percentage points ahead of the Astros with the best winning percentage in baseball but were trailing Houston 3-1 going into the bottom of the 9th inning but the Yankees were trying to rally.
With runners on 2nd and 3rd and two outs, catcher Gary Sanchez stepped up to the plate against Astros Closer Ken Giles. Sanchez did what all Yankee fans hoped and calmly delivered a ground ball single to left field.
The runner on 3rd scored easily and the runner on 2nd, Jacoby Ellsbury is one of the fastest guys on the team so of course he'd score too, right? Wrong.
Astros LF Jake Marisnick fielded the ground ball cleanly moving towards the plate and delivered a strike to Catcher Brian McCann who applied the tag to Ellsbury for the 3rd out of the inning. Game over and Houston wins....3-2.
And the Astros now can claim "Best Record in Baseball"....
