Really, Michigan State...??? REALLY???!!!

The words "out of touch" seem to be consistently used these days when the fallout from the Larry Nassar verdicts come to the fore and how his ex-employer seems to be handling themselves...

Michigan State University stepped in it again Friday afternoon in a Board of Trustees meeting that allowed public comment... And, boy, did 19-year-old Kaylee Lorincz comment about a conversation she and her mother had with Interim President John Engler in regards to how the school is addressing the crisis on campus and, additionally, former medical school dean William Strampel...

Here's her audio in full, thanks to the Lansing State Journal...

It is revealed that the interim President of the university allegedly lied about a meeting that never took place to one of the more-than-200 women who are a part of the class action civil litigation against the school for the disgusting things one of their employees did- in the name of therapy and athletic science...

The Detroit Free Press, part of the cadre in attendance, has this note from after the public speaking session was completed:

MSU spokesperson Emily Guerrant was in the meeting with Engler. In a conversation with Lisa Lorincz following the board meeting Friday morning, Guerrant said her interpretation had been that Engler wasn't offering a settlement, but engaging in a “philosophical discussion” about what amount would be appropriate.

Guerrant told the Lansing State Journal that "an official settlement was not on the table."

"So... Just spitballing here..."

The HQ can see it now...

Mediation in the civil litigation is supposed to re-start in two weeks or so and Interim President Engler hopes to have everything done by the end of the semester- May 5th...

Don't think that deadline is going to be met...

Engler also admitted in the meeting that the university "provided an unnecessary amount of detail" when issuing a statement having to do with a separate federal rape lawsuit against the school's counseling center. Engler also said some view the move as "violating privacy expectations."

Well, duh...

The notion that the university violated student policy in doing this is just something else to add to the laundry list of stuff that has gone completely and totally wrong, has been just as tone deaf, and doesn't seem to be anywhere close to being fixed.

The only way these days, it seems, to send a message is to hit someone in the pocketbook and chop a collective reputation down to a point where the notion of rebuilding is generations in happening...

Honestly, the HQ hopes Michigan State is taken to the cleaners- figuratively and literally...

People, multiple people, in both academics and athletics NEED to lose their jobs as more evidence comes forward. And John Engler needs to be an "interim" only to the nano-second that everything is satisfactory for the victims, their families, and those tied to the university.

Engler purports to be the front man for in trying to park this saga in its garage in Stage One of a long road to physical and emotional recovery. But his activity shines another spotlight on positions of power trying to "fix" something that isn't an easy fix and can't be just swept under a rug any more.

A lot of people need to lose their futures in all of this... as their pasts need to be corrected and exposed...
