College Football Playoff is Set: Did They Get it Right? Yes they did

But did they get it right? Well, I guess it depends on who you ask.

Yes, the College Football Playoff is set: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and Oklahoma are all playing with hopes of winning the National Championship---everyone else playing in a bowl game is just spending money.

The subjective voice of the Playoff Committee had one difficult decision to make---a damned if you do, damned if you don't choice between Alabama and Ohio State. They decided on the Tide for reasons---though I don't all agree with, can't argue with.

They couldn't overlook the Buckeye's absolute turd of a game vs. unranked Iowa where they lost by 31 points in a game that wasn't even that close.

Putting Bama in makes for some really, really intriguing matchups--I like the games that are left....

Amazingly--Alabama is the 4th seed, but the Tide are already picked by a ton of so-called "Experts" to win it all.

I don't see it.

The Alabama vs. Clemson game should be good. Very good. Two very, very good defenses and two solid offenses. Yeah, sure, I get it. Giving Nick Saban 3 weeks to prepare for an opponent is a scary proposition. But the Tide hasn't played anyone on the level of the Tigers.

Not even close.

Then there's the Georgia vs. Oklahoma matchup in Los Angeles at the Rose Bowl. While it will be strange with two teams traveling so far for a game--I guarantee you the Georgia faithful will show up en masse...

This is the game I really want to see. Two fantastically talented offenses and one excellent defense along with one improving defense.

Smart money says this will be an absolute shootout and I think a TV ratings bonanza....Likely Heisman Trophy Winner Baker Mayfield vs. the most underrated RB in College Football Nick Chubb.

So yeah kids---the short version is this: These are your best four teams, the teams that should be here. I get it--Ohio State won their conference and you can state the committee just discounted the idea of winning your conference. But hey, remember, USC won the Pac 12 and really were never considered. UCF ran the table AND won their conference---but essentially just got a pat on the head.

Until there's a bigger playoff you'll always have an argument someone got screwed. You would not be wrong. You can't make all the people happy all the time. It's time for there to be a "Power 5" playoff with all 5 Conference Champs and a wild car team and another Playoff for everyone else---but that ain't happening.

Yet....
